Lavender the Mouse

Good Evening Crocheters!

Happy Monday!

Yesterday I celebrated my 37th Birthday and as a Gift to myself I made one of these guys

I followed the pattern from the gracious Beautiful Nightmare blog (link in image), and made an oops when making the ears...made them too big and now she looks more like a mouse vs. a bear...ah well.

Then while making her my hubby suggested I stuff some Lavender leaves inside of her to make her smell like Lavender! YES amazing idea! So we headed to the Cotton Exchange here in Wilmington to this wonderfully cute store called Down to Earth and spoke with the owner, she suggested to make the smell last longer to infuse some flax seeds with 20-30 drops of essential oils, BINGO! Got the seeds soaking last night, went to Hobby Lobby today and picked up some Sheer Wedding Favor bags to hold the seeds and Voila! Stuffed her belly, assembled her together, added a scarf, and BINGO Mouse!

Check her Out!

Don't you just LOVE her, she sits about 10" tall and is just soo sweet!

Now bag to my regularly scheduled programming of working on a baby afghan!

Monster High Arm Warmers and a Baby Layette Set

Good Thursday Morning Crocheters!

Hope Everyone is Doing Well today!

It's Rainy is Gross here, Perfect Day to Stay Home & Crochet-Crochet-Crochet, alas though I have to work-work, ugh, ah well back at it tonight!

A while ago I posted a pic of this cute little hat I made for my Nieces 7th Birthday

And all was well, then my Sister-in-Law saw these and requested a pair for Zoey

So I pulled the same pattern and dug around for a smaller skull/bow to add to the arm warmers and came up with these

Aren't they the cutest?!?!?!?!

On top of these projects I was asked by one of my Scout Mom's to make a baby layette set for a family member due in December with a little boy, she asked for Blue & Brown and I went shopping and found the sweetest light blue/chocolate brown yarn and got to work - these aren't complete quite yet - still need to add the finishing touches, but she loves them

My first sweater, I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

To get the patterns click through these: Sweater, Booties, Newboy Hat

I pulled the patterns from various sources and assembled a set that is really sweet!

Next is a baby blanket to go with and we've chosen this pattern

Summary

Ven wrestles with these contradicting truths every day. A clone of wealthy eighteen-year-old Raven Rogen, Ven knows everything about the girl she was created to serve: the clothes she wears, the boys she loves, the friends she loves to hate. Yet she’s never met the Authentic Raven face-to-face. Imitations like Ven only get to leave the lab when they’re needed—to replace a dead Authentic, donate an organ, or complete a specific mission. And Raven has never needed Ven . . . until now.

When there is an attack on Raven’s life, Ven is thrust into the real world, posing as Raven to draw out the people who tried to harm her. But as Ven dives deeper into Raven’s world, she begins to question everything she was ever told. She exists for Raven, but is she prepared to sacrifice herself for a girl she’s never met?

Fans of CinderThe Selection and Sara Shepard’s Lying Game series will love Imitation, a thrilling, action-packed novel sure to keep readers guessing until the very last page.

OhmyGoodyness I promise you'll LOVE LOVE LOVE these!

After Imitation pick up Deviation and coming soon Generation!!! Ahhh I can't wait!!!!

Second to this I was asked to make another Elephant - and I just happened to have a skein of grey yarn in the house, so I put together another one - this time for one of my Scouts' younger siblings

Isn't he the Sweetest?!?!? Oh my GAWD I am loving these Amigurumi's! I have loaded my Pinterest boards with them!

That's all my friends!

Enjoy tonight and make this week special!

An Elephant and a Shopping Bag Make for a Full Weekend

Hello Crocheters!

I decided to take a break from making Afghans, hats, scarves, etc. to try my hand at a couple other items...

I was cruising through Pinterest (as I do quite frequently) and came across two patterns I knew I had to try!

First was Ella the Elephant - an animauguri, aka Crocheted stuffed animal, I clicked over to the pattern and found it was super simple to follow, so I got to work, and here's my final product

Pattern Courtesy of Amigurbb.com, click on Image to go to Pattern

And then second I came across this pattern for an adorable Shopping Bag, check it out

This pattern I found on Ravelry, click on the image to go to the Pattern

Aren't they awesome!?!?!? I didn't deck out Ella with all the details, hubby has decided he loves her just the way she is!

Thoughts?!?!

A Scarf and Some Arm Warmers! It's Been a Fun Weekend!

Happy Sunday Crocheters!

Hope Everyone's had a great Weekend! Been a Very Busy one here - I've gotten a TON accomplished this weekend and I am very happy with the end results!

First I finished the Enderman Scarf to go with the hat I posted a couple of weeks ago

Check it out!

My son, hubby and daughter made sure I got the coloring correct with the eyes...evidently I had it backwards on the hat

And then today I put together some arm warmers for one of my Scouts as requested by her Mom

Pattern Courtesy of Mooglyblog, Click Image to Obtain Pattern
Now my daughter (who is so graciously modeling these for me) has requested a pair of arm warmers for herself...so that's tonight's task!

Hope Everyone's had a Great Weekend!

Finding Inspiration Part 2

Good Tuesday Morning Crocheters!

How is everyone this morning!? It's warm and overcast here in the Port City, perfect for just chilling at home and doing some crochet - I am at my day job today and then tonight I'll be working on some of the many projects I have going - hoping to finish the scarf I started and maybe even start on the Cloche hat to go with it.

In the meantime when I have a break at work I love trying to find new projects - or ideas for existing projects to make them better or another pattern I can work up to sell.  The ideas continue to flow.

So where do I find said inspiration?

For starters Pinterest is always a great place to start

My other favorite place for inspiration is a website called AllFreeCrochet

And then there's always the Go To, Ravelry.com

Those are my favorite Go to's - what are yours?

The Cost of Running a Shop

Good Thursday Afternoon Crocheters!

I am going to jot down here today some of the items I have run into in the last week or so while working on my first Etsy order:

1.  The cost of supplies - I vastly underestimated how much the supplies would run me, Ex: the Hat & Scarf pictured here sold for $35.00 in my shop + S/H - in this case the supplies cost all of $12.81 ($3.99/skein x 3 skeins of yarn + 7.5% tax)

So then for the Afghan pictured below I sold it for $75.00 + S/H - and in this case the supplies are running me more than usual, the afghan was originally made for a friend of the family, one of my Girl Scout Mom's who requested it - and to make her a nice soft & warm afghan I made it out of Yarn Bee Tender Touch brand yarn - which runs 155 yards of yarn to a skein - which means I am having t use twice as much as I calculate it would, the yarn runs $3.99/skein and this afghan will require somewhere around 16 skeins of yarn or $68.63 total cost leaving my profit just over $7.00...

2. Not having Calculated shipping costs exactly quite yet I have set aside about $30.00 of the order to pay for UPS Ground Shipping, I prefer this method so I can accurately track the package.

That being said I have increased the price on an afghan made with the Yarn Bee yarns to $100.00 so my profit margin is higher.

As of today I've completed 2/3 of the scarf - just have the other side of the border to do + the fringe and then I need to construct the hat, however I need to purchase that additional skein of yarn first.  And I am about 1/2 way done with the afghan! Super Excited about that and I can't wait for the woman who ordered them to get them.

What's everyone working on today?!?!?!?
